Alan Cox
Linux kernel programmer, Fellow, Red Hat, Swansea, Wales
Alan Cox is widely regarded as one of the senior helpers to Linus Torvalds in the Linux development community. Currently he is a fellow at Red Hat primarily working as part of the kernel development community. Alan previously ran a small consulting business (Building Number Three Ltd). He was the technical director of Cymru.Net - the first all Wales internet provider and worked for NTL doing security design and systems administration for the roll out of Virgin.net.
Alan was the original CERT contact for computer security in the Linux community, and is an active part of vendor-sec, which manages Linux vendor security co-ordination. Alan sits on the advisory board of the Foundation for Information Policy Research (FIPR) and of the Open Rights Group (ORG).
Alan holds both an honours degree in computer science and an MBA from the University of Wales.
