HOT - Heidelberg OSADL Talks 2024

- Online event -

Agenda Legal HOT May 14, 2024 - Agenda Technical HOT May 15, 2024 -
Registration - Presentations and video clips HOT 2024 (Member or participant login required to display video clips)

What is HOT?

HOT = Heidelberg OSADL Talks are an annual online lecture event where participants are given a general overview of the fundamental legal aspects (Legal HOT) and technical aspects (Technical HOT) of using Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) in industry. Legal HOT focuses on aspects such as copyright law, FOSS license obligations and compliance tools, while Technical HOT sheds light on aspects such as the Linux kernel and its real-time variant and related quality, safety and security issues.

Legal and Technical HOT can be booked either inidividually or as package. The conference language is English.

We are always surprised when we hear questions about the use of FOSS in industry that at first glance seem very specific, but at second thought are probably relevant to others as well. We have therefore created a special forum for these questions namely "ASK OSADL". In this particular ASK OSADL sessions, which will take place at the end of each of the two HOT days, participants may ask questions that arise in the course of their daily work, current Open Source issues and beyond. The questions may either be asked live during the ASK OSADL session or can also be submitted in advance (for example when registering for HOT or via email to office@osadl.org). The questions will either be answered directly in the ASK OSADL session or, if not possible and sufficiently relevant, entered into the OSADL FAQ process.

What is the recommended audience for HOT?

  • Employees of OSADL member companies whose in-house OSADL information day took place some time ago and/or who would like to get an update on the legal and technical prerequisites when using Open Source software in industrial products as well as on current OSADL projects and services.
  • New employees of OSADL member companies who are involved with Open Source software and who do not yet know OSADL and its services and who would like to get an overall information on the legal and technical requirements when using Open Source software in industrial products.
  • The HOT video material will be made available for members after the event and may also be used for internal training courses at member companies.
  • Companies that are not yet OSADL members and whose employees want to get acquainted with OSADL, its projects and services and get to know OSADL better before or in addition to an in-house OSADL information day for their company.

When and where does HOT take place?

In 2024 HOT will take place online on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, May 14, 2024 (Legal HOT)
  • Wednesday, May 15, 2024 (Technical HOT)

Legal HOT and Technical HOT may be booked either separately or as package. Participants may select the date(s) when registering.
