By: Carsten Emde

The Institut für Mikroelektronik- und Mechatronik-Systeme [Institute of Microelectronics and Mechatronical Systems] is with us now!

OSADL is honored to announce that we today accepted the "Institut für Mikroelektronik- und Mechatronik-Systeme [Institute of Microelectronics and Mechatronical Systems] (IMMS)" in Ilmenau and Erfurt, Germany, as a regular member.

As a state-owned extra-universitarian institute of Thuringia (one of the 16 German states), IMMS's purpose is to act as a service provider for small and medium-sized companies. Its main competence is the application-oriented advance development of products in the field of microelectronics, system design, mechatronical systems, and measuring technologies.

We are very confident that the newly established collaboration between IMMS and OSADL will help both of us to further improve the versatility of Open Source in general, and Linux in special, for the use in embedded systems and in the machine and automation industry. Besides Linux, TinyOS as another Open Source operating system represents a current R&D topic with applications in the field of Wireless Networks for distributed Sensor data acquisition and actuator control.

More details of the company's activities are given on the new IMMS OSADL member page and, of course, on the IMMS Website.
