Technical Constraints

This section is incomplete and will not be completed until the necessary discussion with the potential end-users has produced sufficient input - we only outline the type of constraints that need to be set. IF the scope is left too open then nothing gets done, if it is too narrow it will not be of sufficient relevance to the OSADL members - a compromise fitting a core group of initial supporters will be needed.

  • Guiding standards should be limited to a small set initially - we propose 50128 and 61508 as a starting point.
  • A limitations to the initially targeted hardware platforms should be set (i.e. PPC, ARM, X86)
  • A categorization of profiles seems mandatory (i.e. low-end embedded, high-end server-class or SIL0 vs SIL1/2 ??)
