What is the OSADL FOSS Compliance Check?
The OSADL FOSS Compliance Check evaluates whether a product essentially meets FOSS license obligations. It assesses license compliance material for consistency and performs spot checks on selected components. Using the example of the product under evaluation, the OSADL FOSS Compliance Check also helps to gauge whether a company's processes are principally set up to achieve FOSS compliance for their products. At conclusion of the compliance check, a detailed report including recommendations to close any gaps detected during the check is provided. Compared to the OSADL Licence Compliance Audit (LCA), the OSADL FOSS compliance check is an assessment of the general level of FOSS compliance rather than individual legal advice.
Scope and procedure
Details on the scope of the OSADL FOSS Compliance Check and its procedure are given in the document "Scope" below. The time and cost for the compliance check is estimated individually based on the product to be evaluated and offered as a fixed price. For this estimation, some general information on the product is queried in advance.
