OSADL's first book "Linux in Safety-Critical Applications" is out

By: Carsten Emde

Launching our new book series "OSADL Academic Works"

Bridging the gap between academic work and industrial practice

OSADL's main purpose is to provide services to the automation and machine industry in the context of Open Source software. These services center, among others, on real-time capabilities of mainline Linux, on drivers and board support packages, on migration tools, on safety certification, on general legal advice related to Open Source licenses and on the organization of conferences and seminars. Last not least, bridging the gap between academic work and industrial practice, OSADL encourages and assists researchers to publish academic work on the above topics in books to make the results of academic research available to a larger audience. In doing the latter, OSADL gratefully acknowledges the cooperation with Roland Kammerer who agreed to publish his diploma thesis as the first volume of our newly launched book series "OSADL Academic Works":

Title: Linux in Safety-Critical Applications
Author: Roland Kammerer
Series title: OSADL Academic Works
Edited by: Carsten Emde, Thomas Gleixner, Nicholas Mc Guire
Volume: 1
ISBN: 978-3-00-033885-4

The book is now available and can be obtained directly from OSADL and from other sources such as this. All OSADL members including academic and sponsoring members will receive - or already received - a sample of the book free of charge. Not yet a member but would like to get one and can't wait? Then visit our booth (hall 11/308) at this year's Embedded World exhibition in Nuremberg, Germany where the book can be purchased at 19.80 euros.

Meet the author at the conference and have your sample autographed by the author

Would you like to have your book autographed by the author? If so, meet the author - or even better - attend the entire class FLOSS for Safety-related Systems on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at the Embedded World conference in Nuremberg, Germany. Roland Kammerer will give a presentation on Improved Redundancy and Consistency beyond RAID 1, and he certainly will be glad to sign your book!
