Recommended audience

This workshop is intended for company lawyers and employees of legal departments who are responsible for licensing and who would like to get an overview of the IT basics required to better understand and fulfill Open Source licenses and their obligations.

Rationale

Today's complex embedded systems normally consist of a rather large number of software components that are connected to each other using different ways. In order to decide under which conditions the connection between such components creates a relevant interaction between them that must be considered for licensing or whether they consititute a mere aggregate requires a certain knowledge of programming technologies. Such knowlegde normally is not available in legal text books and normally also not part of the education of lawyers and legal specialists. Therefore, OSADL is offering this workshop to help legal personnel understand the technical background of programming and use this knowledge in their everyday's routine when it comes to recommend correct fulfillment of license obligations.

Equipment

In addition to presentations, this workshop will contain a number of prepared hands-on sessions where participants will get acquainted with tools and utilities normally used by programmers. The required hardware will be made available to the participants during the seminar. Therefore the number of participants for this workshop is limited to 12 persons.

Workshop participation fee

  • Employees of regular OSADL members, associate OSADL members and academic OSADL members: free access (please select the check box "OSADL member" when registering)
  • Regular workshop fee for non-members: EUR 650 (please select the check box "Not an OSADL member" when registering). An invoice will be sent to the given address shortly after the registration.

All given prices are net prices per person exclusive VAT.

Registration is no longer possible

We are sorry, but registration is no longer possible since the Workshop is already booked out. However, we plan to offer a second edition at a later date in 2020 - possibly in English language. In order to be able to estimate the interest in such a repetition of the workshop, we would appreciate if you could send us a short note by email to officeªosadl.org. And please let us know whether you prefer the second edition of the workshop to be held in English or German language.

You may revoke this agreement at any time by email, mail or phone using the communication data provided at the OSADL imprint page but this will also cancel your registration.
